Abstract:

This study was conducted in two experiments to evaluate the dietary physical form on dry matter intake (DMI), performance, carcass traits and nutrient digestibility from Kalkuhy (an Iranian fat–tailed breed) male lambs. Initial lamb body weight (BW) average was, 32 .81 ± 2 kg, and 110 ± 10 days of age. Three treatments (diet physical form) included T1: total mixture diet (TMR) mixed diet (MD), T2: TMR blocked diet (BD) and T3: TMR pellet diets (PD) that were compared in completely randomized design. Diets had similar composition (80% concentrate to 20% forage). Average DMI of lambs fed by BD was significantly greater than MD diet (P

Effects of feeding with broiler litter in pellet-form diet on Qizil fattening lambs’ performance, nutrient digestibility, blood metabolites and husbandry economics

The aim of this study was to evaluate the feeding of Qizil fattening lambs with different levels of broiler litter (BL) on their weight gain, dry matter intake (DMI), nutrient digestibility, selected blood metabolites and husbandry economics. During an eight-weeks experimental period, 28 male lambs (an average of 42.21 ± 5.63 kg and ages of 7-8 months) were allocated randomly to one of four die...

Effect of Physical Form of Diet on Growth Performance and Immune Responses of Broilers under Stress Induced by Carbon Tetrachloride

This study was conducted to examine the effects of physical form of diet on humoral and cellular immune responses in broiler chickens exposed to carbon tetrachloride stress in days 10 to 42 of age. The 2×3 factorial experiment performed in a randomized complete block design with 468 broilers in 6 treatments and 6 replicates of 13 birds each. The treatments consisted combinations of a grower d...

Effect of diet composition and feed intake level on diet digestibility and ruminal metabolism in growing lambs.

Lambs (29 +/- 2.5 kg) were fed three diets at various intakes to determine whether diet composition or level of intake was reflected in changes in diet digestibility or ruminal fluid characteristics. In Exp. 1, a 90% concentrated, pelleted diet or a whole shelled corn diet with a pelleted protein supplement was fed at three levels of intake: ad libitum and 92.5 and 85% of ad libitum (n = 15). E...

Effect of corn bran and steep inclusion in finishing diets on diet digestibility, cattle performance, and nutrient mass balance.

One metabolism trial and 2 finishing trials were conducted to evaluate the effects of adding corn bran and steep liquor (steep) in replacement of dry-rolled corn (DRC) on diet digestibility, cattle performance, and nutrient mass balance in open feedlot pens. The metabolism trial (Exp. 1) used 8 ruminally cannulated heifers in a 4 × 4 Latin square design and the 2 finishing trials used 128 steer...
